Meet Your Instructors!!

TIM GREGORY

Owner/Instructor

Hi! I’m Tim. Once upon a time I attended my very first dance lesson to impress a girl. At the time, I felt like dancing wasn't "my thing" and that any guys who did dance, were not masculine ones. I was young, ignorant and totally wrong. To my surprise, I caught the dancing bug!

  • Took lessons at the acclaimed Arthur Murray’s studio in San Diego for three years.

  • Became a certified dance instructor in 2004.

  • Taught lessons at various California and Arizona studios for 4 years.

Fast forward through a stint with the Navy, several moves and a growing posse of pets. (5 cats and 1 dog.) I had a degree in computer networking but really wasn’t passionate about it. That’s when I decided to go back to teaching dance full time. I opened Manhattan’s only ballroom dance school in 2016.

Even if you think YOU can’t dance, I believe in you. Walking through the door is the hardest step. The rest is up to me.

Come and dance with me!

TONYA ROBERTS

Dance Instructor

Hi, I’m Tonya. My parents say I started dancing in the womb. Like many little girls, I watched a videotape of the Nutcracker ballet over and over and dreamed of being the sugar plum fairy. To my five-year-old self, going to a studio where I dressed up in costumes matching my friends and boogied around wasn’t enough. I insisted my mom take me to a “serious” ballet school. Over the years, I have lightened up a bit, and my dance passions have grown from ballet to tap and jazz to contemporary and now ballroom.

  • Hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from the University of Alabama

  • Performed with the Augusta Ballet, Augusta Opera, Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre, and Manhattan Arts Center

  • Competed ProAm in American Rhythm, American Smooth, and Nightclub styles in regional competitions, including Heart of America Dancesport

I’ve had a wide variety of dance teachers, some who inspired and others who made me feel I was never good enough. As your dance instructor, my goal is to not only teach you to become a better dancer but to share with you the joy and magic of partnership dancing, no matter where you are in your journey.

Come and dance with me!
